January to March Newsletter: Highlights of Our Recent Activities
As we journey through 2024, the Priests Peace & Justice Initiative (PPJ), the Social Arm of Palace of Priests Assembly (PPA), continues to champion justice, transparency, and social impact within our communities. This quarter has been filled with significant activities, all contributing to our mission of promoting social justice and empowering the church for effective community service. Below are the highlights of our newsletter:
1. Participants at the 3-Day Capacity Building Workshop on the Establishment and Management of the Social Arm of the Church in Jos
In a groundbreaking initiative, church leaders from across the region gathered in Jos for a 3-day workshop focused on the establishment and management of the social arm of the church. This workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to run effective social justice programs within their congregations.
2. Palace of Priests Assembly Addresses the National Executive Council of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria
The Palace of Priests Assembly had the honor of addressing the National Executive Council of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. This engagement provided an opportunity to discuss key issues affecting the church and the nation, emphasizing the role of the church in promoting unity, justice, and transparency in the larger society.
3. 1-Day Platform on Transparency and Accountability for Christians in Government
Under the theme “Beyond Corruption: Pentecostal Unity for Social Justice Advancement,” we hosted a 1-day platform focusing on transparency and accountability for Christians serving in government. The event underscored the importance of integrity in public service and the critical role of the church in advocating for ethical governance.
4. PPJ Marks International Women’s Day
In celebration of International Women’s Day, PPJ organized events to honor and uplift women within our community. The day was filled with inspiring stories, discussions on gender equality, and the reaffirmation of our commitment to empowering women and promoting their rights.
5. PPA Trains 217 Pentecostal Leaders and Workers on the Establishment and Management of the Social Arm in Jos
Following the success of the capacity-building workshop, the Palace of Priests Assembly took the initiative to train 217 Pentecostal leaders and workers on the establishment and management of the social arm of the church in Jos. This training is expected to have a far-reaching impact on how churches engage with social justice issues in their communities.
6. Without Justice, We Are All a Gang of Robbers…Prof. Samuel Zalanga
In a powerful address, Professor Samuel Zalanga reminded us that without justice, our efforts are in vain. His words resonated deeply as he called on the church to be a leading force in the pursuit of justice, emphasizing that this is not just a social duty but a moral imperative for all Christians.
